The Hotel Indijan, opened in the summer of 2007, is a small boutique hotel situated on a stretch of privileged beachfront property in the historic, seafaring town of Orebic. Built on the site of a derelict stone villa and onetime summer residence, the stylish, new hotel strikes a perfect balance of traditional and contemporary features. Giant palm trees and graceful stone columns - typical of Dalmatia’s old patrician villas - encircle two large terraces, both overlooking the sea. The more contemporary upper-level terrace is an extension of the hotel wine bar where guests can relax and sample the peninsula’s famous Dingac and Postup wines, including those of the owner whose family has been growing grapes and making wine for generations. The lower-level terrace is an al fresco extension of the hotel’s a la carte restaurant and sits above a pretty pebble beach. The hotel’s comfortable, well-appointed double rooms and suites all have covered balconies and sea views. The views are stunning and stretch west across the channel to the island of Korcula and an archipelago of tiny emerald islets. To the south the views take in Orebic and a cliffhanger coastline of vineyards and crystal bays. Additional amenities feature an indoor pool with retractable glass roof, jacuzzi, sauna and fitness room. The hotel’s friendly, young staff will gladly assist you in pointing out what to see and do in the area during your stay. Dalmatia’s rich cultural heritage includes the lyrical a capella vocal groups known as Klapa.
