The Hotel Villa Wolff is a small, family-run boutique hotel on the Lapad Peninsula, just ten minutes by car from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik’s walled Old Town. The Lapad Peninsula is Dubrovnik’s most exclusive residential district. It was here by the sea in the sixteenth century that wealthy patrician families and feudal landlords began building their summer villas and country estates. The Hotel Villa Wolff began its life in the Middle Ages as a pirates’ den. Later it became a monastery and eventually a private residence. It’s easy to understand why pirates and monks alike would have coveted its position. Tucked into a hillside of Mediterranean palms and cypress, the property offers splendid views of Lapad Bay with its pebbly beaches and perfect cerulean-blue sea. Entrance to the hotel (which is located in a pedestrianised area) is via a flight of red-carpeted stairs that ascend from the seafront and lower level restaurant-bar. Accommodation features two suites with balconies and garden/sea views, one junior suite with garden and sea views, and three double rooms with garden and poolside views of the hotel next door. In addition to its romantic setting, the Hotel Villa Wolff offers its guests a personalised service one normally expects from a four-star boutique hotel. A delicious buffet breakfast is served every morning on crisp, white table linens, with views from the terrace looking out over the sea and gardens. An à la carte restaurant menu is also available, and for special occasions a special Champagne Breakfast with caviar and salmon. The beach-level ‘La Casa’ restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating and specialises in Mediterranean, Dalmatian and Dubrovnik ‘fusion’ cuisine. Private, motorboat transfers to and from Dubrovnik airport may also be arranged for guests upon request.
